There is already a Daily Flow exercise, which is about looking at the sky more often.
Because the unintentional observation of the passing clouds in the sky can have a very calming effect on us and is a playground for our creativity ("There, that's a rabbit! Right there, the cloud a little further to the left!").
However, you can modify the exercise a little and then simply send away unhelpful thoughts.
The background:
Not all of our thoughts are really useful for a balanced, fulfilled and successful life. Some thoughts are even very obstructive.
Many such thoughts are based on beliefs that we have "acquired" at some point, but which may no longer make sense to us.
In coaching, one speaks of obstructive beliefs ("I've never been good at making music", "I'm too old to learn a new language", etc.).
And some of these thoughts can also cause a lot of stress in life. Take, for example, the thought "I always have to do everything perfectly".
Such a thought makes us look around the clock for ways to do our work a little better.
Their own well-being and private life usually fall by the wayside.
If you have discovered such a thought in yourself that you would like to take away a little of its power over you, then try this exercise:
- Formulate the thought out loud or silently for yourself.
- Look at the sky (ideally, individual cloud formations should be recognizable for the exercise).
- Choose a cloud with which you want to send your thoughts on a journey.
- Now "pin" the thought to the cloud in your imagination. You can imagine how your thought is attached to the cloud as a post-it. Or you can find a symbol for your thought that you attach to the cloud.
- And now just watch as the cloud sets off with your thought on the journey away from you.
- Look after the cloud until it slowly disappears into thin air along with your thought, or gets lost in a new cloud formation. At the same time, feel inside yourself how the old thought is losing more and more of its power over you.
Of course, the same applies to this exercise that you should definitely go to a trained specialist if you have serious problems and self-destructive thoughts!
