Bare feet stand on the ground between tree roots.

Humans have always had a very special relationship with trees. In many cultures, trees were and are sacred.

We Germans will also have a special Relationship with our forest Said.

You can build a very personal relationship with the trees and nature with the exercise "Tree Root Breathing".

And at the same time, the exercise can ground you again, bring you back to your center and give you new strength and energy.

And this is how it works:

  • Stand upright – preferably barefoot so that you can feel the ground under your feet better and best of all, of course, outside in nature.
  • Breathe in and out a few times in a relaxed manner and consciously feel the ground under your feet. Make sure you stand securely, especially if you should close your eyes during the exercise (you can also keep your eyes open, of course).
  • Then imagine your feet reaching deep into the earth like the roots of a tree, anchoring you firmly in the ground. Feel with every breath how you are connected to the earth via your root feet.
  • Now imagine how you draw strength and calm from the ground with every breath and distribute it throughout your body with every exhale, just like the roots of a tree receive water and nutrients from the soil and distribute them throughout the tree.
  • Accept the strength and tranquility gratefully as a gift from the earth and let this gratitude flow into your breathing. Also feel the gratitude towards the trees, whose energy resonates in this exercise and with which you also connect through the exercise.
  • If you like, you can also open your hands slightly upwards, as if you were holding two balls in your hands and imagine your gratitude being radiated upwards into the sky via your hands – just as the trees release oxygen into the air through their leaves.
  • Breathe in – absorb strength and calm from the ground. Exhale – let the strength and calm spread through the body and feel the feeling of gratitude.
  • Continue the practice as long as it feels good for you or until you feel like you are completely filled with the strength and tranquility you have received from the earth.
  • End the exercise with a conscious breath or a small gesture of gratitude to the trees and the earth.

You can also modify the exercise and imagine how instead of strength and calm, you can receive energy, strength or motivation as a gift from the earth.

Or you can take other qualities that you need in your current situation.

As always, just try it out and see what feels best for you and what works best for you!
