Komorebi - The sun shines through the leaves of a tree.

Shinrin-yoku – known to us as forest bathing – comes from Japan. There, it was launched in the 1980s by the Japanese Ministry of Health as a campaign against the stress in the world of work, which is also omnipresent in Japan (you can read more about forest bathing in in this article ).

The Japanese have a very close relationship with the forest (70% of Japan is covered with forest). And they have their own word for sunlight that shines through the leaves of the trees: Komorebi.

Looking at the play of light of the sun in the canopy of trees, i.e. Komorebi, is said to have a similar effect on the brain as meditation.

My tip:

The next time you're in the forest in good weather, consciously pay attention to this play of light from the Komrebi. Take a few minutes and let the play of sunlight work its magic on you. You will see that practicing Komorebi calms you down very quickly and gets you out of stress!

By the way: You can also enjoy the positive effects of the Komorebi (at least to a certain extent) online. Here I have a Youtube video for you that you can use for this purpose. I'll get involved in the play of the sun's rays in the video – you'll be surprised how well it works!
