In the meantime, there is an abundance of Studies that demonstrate the positive effects of gratitude on health and well-being. We just can't be grateful and unhappy at the same time. And we can't be grateful and stressed at the same time!
You can take advantage of this by taking a short break from gratitude regularly.
Here is a small suggestion:
Put a nice stone in your pocket. Every time you happen to touch the stone during the day, you pause for a moment and think of three things you're grateful for. At the beginning it may feel a bit unfamiliar and maybe you can't think of anything right away.
But with a little practice, you're sure to come up with a lot of things to be grateful for. It's best to make this exercise a regular part of your daily routine – the more often you do the exercise, the more things you'll come up with.
What you can also do: Thank you for everything that is good for you and that provides you with good.
So not only with the people around you, but for example with the plants for providing you with oxygen and nourishing you, with the sun for the warmth and light or with your dog for going through life with you.
You will see how this exercise quickly improves your mood and gets you out of stress.
