The quote from the title of this micro-exercise comes from well-known time management pope Lothar M. Seiwert . By the way, in the original Japanese proverb, from which the Seiwert quote is based, it says: "If you are in a hurry, make a detour".
When we are under time pressure and are stressed as a result, we often become erratic and hectic. And the already short time seems to fly past us all the more.
On top of that, mishaps quickly happen that cost additional time and put us under even more stress.
The way out:
Shift down a gear. Take a break, put work aside for a moment and come back to yourself.
Or you can try the following little micro exercise:
As soon as you realize that you have become hectic because you are under time pressure, consciously move slowly.
As if you Tai Chi practice.
Walk very slowly, breathe consciously and slowly. Do everything at half speed. Or even slower.
At first you may feel some resistance to it, but if you get involved in the exercise for a while, you will feel yourself coming to rest again.
One or two minutes are usually enough for this.
And afterwards you can continue much faster and more effectively and in the end you even save time by doing it slowly!
