Do you know this? You have a terribly important appointment tomorrow and just can't fall asleep. And the more you try, the more hopeless it seems to become.
Then this micro-exercise might be just right for you.
Because it can help you fall asleep and is therefore predestined for situations like the one described.
And you don't have to count sheep to that.
Instead, you simply do the following:
As you inhale, imagine your breath running like a wave onto the beach. As you exhale, imagine your breath flowing back into the sea with the wave.
Breathe in, the wave flows onto the beach. Exhale, the wave flows back into the sea.
Breathe in, a new wave hits the beach, exhale, the wave flows back into the sea.
Just repeat this "wave breathing" until you start to fall asleep – usually it doesn't take too long.
You may also imagine the sound of ocean waves hitting the beach and then flowing back into the sea.
This exercise has helped me fall asleep quickly and easily countless times.
And I am sure that it can also be a valuable help for you to fall asleep.
Just try the exercise once!
P.:
If you regularly suffer from sleep problems, you should not take it lightly. In this case, please be sure to go to an appropriately trained specialist, doctor or therapist.
